When I stopped at F.L. Tripp & Sons Marina, it was not a scheduled stop. After coming out of the Cape Cod Canal the gooseneck broke on my boom and I was forced to find a place to stop and repair the Argo.
Because my sailboat is so old and it’s a racing yacht they did not have the parts required to do the job. I was able to locate a metal fabricator that made a new gooseneck. I was also able to acquire a new headsail and inflatable dinghy.
Because of its location in proximity to Newport, Rhode Island, it is a very busy marina and because of that it is very expensive marina.
F.L. Tripp & Sons is a Working Marina
They are a full service wet and dry storage marina, located on the Westport River with complete access to the Atlantic Ocean. This marina is very busy and they only have 4 transient slips so you will want to call ahead to make sure they have a place for you to tie up.
They have 178 slips and 218 mooring balls in their mooring field. The docks have electric service in 30 amp 50 amp.
Mechanical services are available and they offer both inboard and outboard sales & service. Other boat services include carpentry, Gelcoat, and fiberglass work. F.L. Tripp & Sons will also commission your boat for launch with services like bottom painting, washing, and waxing, rigging, and launching your boat.
They also have showers, laundry and Internet service available which is critical because there is nothing within walking distance.
